Roaster Box

In collaboration with Glitter Cat Barista, I was given the opportunity to design the inaugural Roaster Spotlight box. The intention is to make each recipient feel special upon delivery and to adequately represent the vibrant personality of coffee professionals with marginalized identities which Glitter Cat strives to highlight.

Third Space

For the May 2021 release of Roaster Spotlight, I designed the coffee label for Christina Chin of Favor Coffee that highlighted a reclamation of Chinese American culture. Being in the Asian American space, I felt very honored to have the chance to design this label and was pleased with the detailing. Images of Third Space and the Glitter Cat box above were taken by Umeko Motoyoshi for a collaborative giveaway during the month of May.

A league of their Own

During the August 2021 release of Roaster Spotlight, I worked with Stephen Zinnerman of The Coffee Enthusiast to bring his love of baseball, black history, and coffee to the forefront. This label was based off of the Negro Leagues of baseball and how coffee was a part of the touring culture and hospitality that tied the community together. Working with Stephen to create this was really a joy and I felt like I got to know more about his love of community, coffee, and culture from this small project.

The November 2021 release of Roaster Spotlight was extremely personal to me. It was the first large roasting project I worked on by myself, and was one that tried to tell the story of my identity. November is national adoption month, so I wanted to pay homage to that side of my life and show the parts of myself that make me who I am. It included small Korean games and toys, a snack, stickers, and a small poem that was a letter to my younger self. It was a very large scale project, roasting 50 boxes on a 1lb roaster.

Existential Drip

Griefscapes is the February 2022 release of Roaster Spotlight featuring Kris Carlson. It is a coffee that is rooted in reflection, healthy grieving, and considering wholistic impacts of mental health. It is the first coffee for Glitter Cat that has been made decaffeinated and was in collaboration with Holly Bastin who is in the process of becoming a death doula. The two of them created a zine to continue these reflections and detail the intention of the chosen coffee.
